POSITION DESCRIPTION: ACCOUNT MANAGER
Reports to: Practice Leader & Managing Director
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The position will be responsible for providing communications advisory services for a diverse portfolio of client accounts, ensuring that client satisfaction is maintained at the highest level. You will apply strategic thinking and oversight to client programs, deploy the firm’s resources to achieve client objectives, monitor client projects on a day-to-day basis, and work under limited supervision or as part of a team.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
In general, Account Manager will perform within the following broad categories, allocating time, emphasis and resources accordingly.
Account Management (45%)
- Creative thinking
- Writing project and program plans
- Assigning tasks to team members, in light of client profitability and competencies
- Interpreting client needs and solving problems
- Creating and maintaining productive senior-level relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Communicating clearly and honestly with clients
- Conducting account and project audits
- Offering strategic counsel to senior client contacts
- Developing crisis/issues response materials
- Measuring success of H+K programs for clients
- Reviewing program success with clients
Program Implementation (25%)
- Reviewing, editing, writing materials (news releases, pitches, backgrounders, fact sheets, whitepapers, Q&As)
- Writing articles (issue stories, by-lined articles)
- Engaging with media relations, and other stakeholders
- Liaising with suppliers (e.g. polling firms, technology suppliers, designers)
- Liaising with third-party spokespeople
Financial Management (10%)
- Manage and be accountable for account profitability
- Manage performance and utilization of account teams
- Take responsibility for day-to-day financial management of assigned accounts
- Prepare client invoice letters
- Manage client budgets
- Maintain account profitability
- Proactively manage accounts receivable issues with clients
- Coordinating new client contracts
- Accurately record expenses and approve supplier invoices
- Contribute to forecasts used by senior management to develop business plans for the agency.
New Business Development (10%)
- Networking/ attending firm-related functions
- Exploring and pursuing external opportunities and interests
- Keeping track of events and trends and their impact on clients and the firm
- Developing and following up with new business contacts
- Preparing responses to requests for proposals
- Presenting in new business pitches
- Proposing new project ideas to existing clients (organic growth)
(Self) Professional Development (5%)
- Attending learning and development sessions
- Exploring opportunities to grow and learn through external experiences
- Taking online course offerings
- External training as identified
General (5%)
- Complying with WPP, and Hill+Knowlton Strategies administrative and personnel policies and procedures, including time tracking, expense reimbursements, and
- Maintaining proficiency on firm’s basic operating programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Outlook, Access, FileMaker, among others).

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree
- 5-to 7 years of professional experience in strategic communications, corporate and crisis communications, public affairs, or a directly related field (agency experience preferred).
- Deep understanding of the media and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to draw on a large network of individuals and organizations
- Ability to develop new business, including identify opportunities, establish contact, draft proposals and budgets, provide strategic and creative input in the design and creation of business strategies and presentations
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills (Ukrainian, English)
- Ability to work with a team of people from Hill+Knowlton and within client environments.
