Finance Manager
Description
H+K Strategies is seeking a Finance Manager based out of our Toronto office for Canada. Responsibilities include timely and accurate reporting of all financial data to the parent company / providing financial reports required by Company management, accounting functions, formulating and administering approved accounting practices to ensure that financial operating reports accurately reflect the condition of the business and that the Company is SOX compliant.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize and direct the activities of General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
- Provide management with accurate and timely information necessary to make strategic decisions.
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly and year-end closings and compliance with all parent company financial reporting requirements.
- Work closely with local office CFO/Finance Managers to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance with SOX requirements.
- Assure that effective communication is maintained within areas of responsibility.
- Recommend, implement and monitor compliance with all accounting and payroll policies.
- Responsible for overall SOX controls framework for Canada and documenting all accounting and SOX policies and procedures.
- Responsible for monitoring expenditure authorization levels
- Responsible for maximizing the efficiency of all accounting personnel by providing training, motivation, and direction.
- Responsible for the preparation of all accounting ledgers, corporate reports, and other financial reports.
- Responsible for the year-end audit, regional SOX audit, local tax audits and all contact with the Company’s independent auditors and taxing authorities.
- Prepare and file all provincial and federal tax returns.

Qualifications
- BS or BA degree –Accounting Specialization, CPA
- 7+ years of general accounting experience in a professional service organization and direct supervision of a corporate general accounting department
- Experience managing a team - effective leadership experience + Knowledge of Maconomy a plus
- Microsoft suite of tools experience, including proficient Excel experience
- Self-motivated, independent and a strong team player with a keen ability to develop professional relationships
- Strong in financial accounting, internal control systems and technical competency

- Ability to work well as part of a top management team within finance to facilitate continuous improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated supervisory and management ability.
- Thorough knowledge and experience with International Financial Reporting Standards
- Thorough knowledge and experience with general ledger account reconciling.
- Thorough knowledge of balance sheet and income statement analysis and presentation.
- Problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills
- Time management and prioritization skills
