Project Manager

Job Description Summary

 The Project Manager must understand processes with various materials such as woods, metals, plastics, vacuum forming, print and quality assurance. The Project Manager must be capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously and work well with and communicate effectively with production teams and management. They should be extremely organized and document and manage all details of projects including budgets. The Project Manager must be comfortable and thrive working in a fast-paced environment. The Project Manager must be capable of managing complex projects from key accounts that may cross all business segments. This position plays a critical role in the development of new products, processes, and markets for the company. The Project Manager is also an integral part of the R&D group and plays a significant role in the entire development and production process.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the creation, maintenance and delivery of the detailed Project Plan and Scope of Work.
  • Ability to confirm and identify customer needs, challenges, and opportunities in order to develop viable solutions.
  • Works with the appropriate departments to craft the project plan and scope of work for the specific project.
  • Flexible hours are required to accommodate customer needs.
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Documents and creates any change requests required whether they arrive by request of the customer management.
  • Ability to learn and communicate product information of technical nature as well as commercial nature to customers, sales force, and other contacts.
  • Creates and maintains activity and progress reports for internal and external customers.
  • Initiates contact and works with internal team/customer to develop the proper timeframe. Sets proper expectation with the customer for the beginning and end date/times of a project.
  • Tracks all budget related information to include but not limited to billable hours and expenses.
  • Ensures the success of the project while remaining within the scoped time and budget.
  • Represents the company as a single point of contact for all aspects of the project or engagement.
  • Properly notifies management staff of any pending or current escalations relating to the project or items that could impact the success of the project.
  • Ability to act under pressure to develop critical paths for projects.
  • Must have understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Primary responsibility is to execute on time and on budget delivery of production orders by directing suppliers and internal resources.
  • Consult with design and engineering personnel to define production and aesthetic standards for displays.
  • Determine vendor participation based on supplier's core competencies, ability to meet deadlines and cost parameters.
  • Oversee timely creation of prototypes and provide cost effective, quality production of display fixtures in timeframes dictated in project parameters.
  • Develop and maintain detailed bills of materials.
  • Research new materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop quality criteria, tests, inspections, and manuals for assigned projects.
  • Track and document production progress and coordinate production activities with assembly vendor.
  • Communicate production information to Account Executives.
  • Analyze project –wrap up meetings.
  • Attend production meetings.
  • Coordinate daily project activities.
  • Participate in Client Review Meetings.
  • Consult with Engineers, Designers and Vendors to develop best solutions available to manufacture finished components.
  • Prepare engineering briefs and review with Engineering to obtain production release drawings for vendors for manufacture.
  • Obtain production samples for client approval and maintain samples to ensure manufacturing compliance.
  • Maintain quality of product to client expectation.
  • Maintain clean and organized work area.
  • Reports to General Manager / Operations Manager.

  • The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Professional customer interaction is required.
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university/college or equivalent preferred, proven project management experience required.
  • Solid background/work experience in project management.
  • Perseverance, drive, and self-confidence to manage all workings of a project.
