This Opportunity
Heitman is seeking an Associate to join its Product Strategy & Development (PS&D) team. The PS&D team drives organic revenue growth by enhancing product development and innovation and by bringing strategic discipline and insight to the products we offer our clients. The team stays closely attuned to evolving industry trends to ensure Heitman maintains a robust and relevant product suite across market cycles.
PS&D partners closely with Heitman’s global investment teams, as well as sales, client service, and marketing, to deliver thoughtful client solutions and support the firm’s broader objectives.
Based in Heitman’s Chicago office, this role supports the core functions of the PS&D team and offers meaningful exposure to institutional product strategy, real estate investing, and cross‑functional collaboration across the firm.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Developing a strong understanding of Heitman’s global product suite across strategies and regions.
- Supporting research and analysis that informs the product development process and is presented to the Product Development Committee, including coordinating internal inputs and processes from idea generation through product development.
- Creating and coordinating product launch materials that support investor engagement and equip sales teams throughout the sales cycle.
- Supporting ongoing product management initiatives to ensure Heitman’s products are positioned effectively in the market.
- Partnering with the marketing team to execute strategic campaigns that showcase firm initiatives, drive engagement, and strengthen Heitman’s brand.
- Leveraging third‑party data to assess the market landscape, including investment themes, product trends, competitor offerings, and pricing, and synthesizing implications for Heitman.
- Utilizing business intelligence tools to improve data accessibility, streamline workflows, and enhance the quality and efficiency of decision‑making.
- Building relationships across the firm and collaborating with investment, sales, client service, and marketing teams on product‑related initiatives.
- Assisting with cross‑functional product strategy projects and other strategic initiatives as needed.
- Building industry knowledge with an emphasis on developing a strong understanding of real estate markets and investment products.
Qualifications:
- BS or BA degree; coursework in business administration, finance, marketing, or economics is a plus.
- 1–3 years of experience in investment management, with exposure to investment products or product development; experience in real estate, real assets, or private markets is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proactive, detail‑oriented self‑starter who takes ownership of work and follows through on deliverables.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize and communicate insights clearly.
- Collaborative mindset with strong relationship‑building skills and the ability to work effectively across levels and functions.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word; experience with Power BI and Copilot is a plus.
- Progress toward the CFA designation is a plus.
Job Location and Travel
- This position is based in our Chicago office.

The expected annual base salary range for this role is $75,000- $85,000 and will be further discussed during the interview process. This range represents what Heitman reasonably and in good faith believes we would pay a qualified candidate for this role at the time of posting (based on a full-time equivalent schedule). Your actual base salary placement will depend on factors such as (but not limited to): your relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition, all of our team members are bonus eligible and participate in a generous annual bonus plan, with the percentage varying based on your role and level, ensuring that your contributions are recognized and rewarded.
