The Driver will maintain project vehicles by ensuring they stay clean and receive regular scheduled maintenance. S/he will support the administration of the project to run office errands in accordance with HPI objectives, policies and procedures.


A Self-motivated team member who is honest, patient, respect’s time (punctuality), and presents a high sense of organization.

Responsibilities & Deliverables

A. Accountable for technical service to vehicle and transport (70%)

  • Provide safe transportation for project staff, visitors and partners.
  • Operate project auto vehicles for official trips and comply with standard traffic rules, regulations, and best driving practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good physical condition of vehicles.
  • Conduct a periodic check-up of vehicles for fluid (engine and gear oil, brake fluid, steering fluid, etc.) and electrical conditions.
  • Keep an up-to-date vehicle logbook and maintenance book.
B. Vehicle Security and Reporting (10%)
  • Report promptly to the Finance and Administration Officer and/or appropriate public officers in any case of theft or damage to vehicles by other parties in accordance with Heifer’s procedures.
  • Provide prompt emergency assistance if an accident occurs.
  • Keep and maintain tools, repair kits and safety devices for each vehicle.
  • Provide vehicle support to staff as per clearance from Finance and Administration Officer.
  • Provide logistics support as required.
C. General project clerk duties and errands (10%)
  1. Provide support around the project office as needed, including but not limited to: sorting and receiving post, sorting documents, and scanning.

D. May perform other duties as assigned (10%)

Minimum Requirements
  1. Must have a valid Senegal Driver’s license.
  2. At least 3 years working experience in related function/role.
Preferred Requirements
  1. Understand (read and understand spoken) some French.
  2. Computer literate (basic word and excel).
  3. A secondary school completion certificate or Attestation in motor mechanics repairs.

Most Critical Proficiencies

  1. High ability to build working interpersonal relationships
  2. Excellent mechanical skills for vehicle maintenance.
  3. Can communicate effectively in a team
  4. Good spoken and written French and Senegal local languages.
  5. High capacity to receive directives /feedback and execute them correctly
  6. Good sense of orderliness in archiving documents
  7. Knowledge in development projects.
  8. Capacity to work without direct supervision and taking right initiatives.
  9. Can maintain confidentiality, respect the code of conduct and work free of conflict of interest.
  10. Strong adherence to the motor vehicle usage policy, as well as local and national traffic laws, always.
  11. Basic to intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
  12. Knowledge of simple clerical work.

  6. Ability to follow directions and independently complete assigned tasks (written or verbal).
  7. Ability to work a varied schedule to include early mornings, weekends and some evenings.
  8. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms) floor to waist as required.
  9. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
