Our Group Leaders are responsible for providing daily direction through meeting production schedules, training team members on quality and safety critical job tasks, appropriately escalating issues to the supervisor, and supporting team goals in safety, quality, efficiency and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure resources are in place to meet schedules and creatively solve problems that hinder the performance of the department.  Examples include staffing, part shortages, corrective actions, near misses/work injuries, safety hazard removal and others.
  • Ensure Job Safety Analyses, Lock-out Tag-out and Standard Work are current, posted and reviewed.
  • Train and audit team members regarding safety practices; Personal Protective Equipment, job rotation, use of safety guards.
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective action to minimize line downtime and/or safety concerns with use of tools (5 whys, fishbone diagram, A3, etc.)
  • Strictly enforce quality standards.  Identify and eliminate reoccurring quality issues and adhere to ISO documentation and procedures.
  • Manage department’s QDCS performance measures, including visual controls, and provide regular progress reports to supervisor.
  • Support new member orientation and develop a culture that welcomes new members.
  • Conduct departmental training on job specific tasks.
  • Manage the ANDON system as required.
  • Order basic supplies, tools and materials for area as required.
  • Assisting maintaining and balancing vacation pool for appropriate staffing.
  • Ensure in-line audits and TPMs are performed.
  • Understand, collect, and enter data (i.e., downtime, schedule attainment, etc.)
  • Effectively communicate information to members regarding quality, safety, production schedules, work schedules, and team performance; respond to members’ questions and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Maintains open communications with all Members of the department and with other company Members.
  • Support conflict resolution between members and when appropriate elevate issues to the Supervisor, Manager or Member & Community Relations department.
  • Actively support Member development.  Make efforts to allow department Members to participate in training opportunities. 
  • Actively participate in and promote the Rapid Continuous and Business Process Improvement (RCI/BPI) culture, including support of Mi Idea program.
  • Drive discipline regarding shop floor organization and cleanliness (5S).
  • Fill in for absent team members when necessary.
