Hearth & Home Technologies is looking for an Inventory Control Supervisor to join our team in Mount Pleasant, IA. We are the nation’s leading manufacturer and supplier of hearth products, including a wide variety of gas, electric, wood and pellet burning fireplaces, inserts, stoves, and accessories. The Inventory Control Supervisor oversees the planning, organizing and control of the flow of materials from receipt of materials through outbound operations. She/he is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to manage materials operations. This position focuses on gap analysis, identification of current state improvement opportunities and development of the future state processes in regard to materials management. Responsibilities include insuring adequate materials on hand when needed, minimizing the inventory investment, operating efficiently through lean practices and ensuring that Hearth & Home Technologies meets or exceeds customer expectations with every product delivered.

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop strategies and action plans for the overall flow of material and information throughout the facility aimed at achieving world-class performance to satisfy fulfillment lead-time and inventory turns.
• Manages and maintains inventory by determining optimum inventory, space requirements, cost levels, accuracy and recommending review of idle, excess and obsolete stock.
• Direct communication with Internal Factories and External Suppliers to solve product issues, Quality, Cost and Delivery.
• Manages relationship with internal manufacturing facilities as well as outside vendor negotiations.
• Oversees release of raw materials through pull signal replenishment in order to satisfactorily meet manufacturing raw material requirements – if in manufacturing facility.
• Oversees scheduling, release, and expediting of Finished Goods or PFR in order to satisfactorily meeting shipping requirements – if in RDC facility.
• Reduce storage space required for Finished Goods and minimize the on-hand value of Finished Goods – if in RDC facility.
• Works with Procurement team making recommendations on the timing and quantity of purchases, and the establishment of most economical purchases quantities and inventory levels.
• Manages the day to day functions of the receiving, inventory and material movement teams developing and maintaining PFEP (Plan for Every Part) – if in manufacturing facility.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and ensuring compliance of all procedures. Setting and meeting goals/initiatives insuring practices to best of class level.
• Continuous review of materials internal processes, identifying problem areas and establishing action plans for improvement.
• May provide reporting in relation to inventory control and investment on an ad-hoc basis.
• Oversee and training of cycle counting/physical inventory processes to maintain an accurate perpetual inventory.
• Engage and motivate Members and provide onsite leadership for problem, improved working relationships, and high Member morale through effective communication, coaching, training, development, and root cause analysis in accordance with Company policies, procedures and philosophy.
• Exercises limited authority; sets performance objectives, coaches team Members on performance, completes performance evaluations, and recommends pay actions.
• Ensure corrective actions for quality, safety, delivery, cost, materials, downtime, etc. are addressed with proper root cause analysis and action plans.
• Must proactively address safety concerns and practice safety awareness (JSA, LOTO, Certified Safe Member, 6S practices)
• Must be willing to actively lead, support, and promote Rapid Continuous Improvement culture and activities.
• Support customers (internal and/or external) through the efficient and effective delivery of the right part/unit to the right place at the right time in right sized containers.
• Work cooperatively with all other managers of the plant to constantly improve departmental and overall plant operations and achieve manufacturing goals.
• Manages in a manner that ensures improved long-range contribution by the department, profitability of the company, and fairness and respect towards members while maintaining high member morale.
• Achieve results in productivity, schedule attainment, inventory days of supply, C.O.T. delivery, safety, quality, and allocation of resources.
• Maintain inventory levels such as to provide good asset turnover consistent with efficient support of manufacturing activities.
• Effectively manage inventory investment, operating expenses, staffing and wages.
• Demonstrated strong leadership, coaching, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills supporting world-class levels.

Minimum Requirements 

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering, industrial technology or related technical discipline, may substitute equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Prior experience and success in developing pull systems and inventory controls.
• Knowledge of lean principles.
• Excel knowledge & experience.
• ERP and/or MRP Experience.

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience having direct reports in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Advanced Excel knowledge & experience.
• WMS Experience.
• Completion of Leadership training and development classes.
• Lean/Six Sigma/Bronze BPI Certification or Project Management Certification
