Assistant Controller

 

Summary/Overview

The Assistant Controller will be responsible for the overall operations of the accounting department and work side-by-side with a hands-on Controller. The Assistant Controller will assist in all financial reporting, accounting, assist with maintaining Accounts Payable, Receivables reporting, compliance related functions and tax accounting. This role is ideal for a highly motivated professional who seeks exposure to be an integral part of a rapidly growing Private Equity backed company. 

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and consolidating monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements
  • Assist with healthcare revenue analysis and recognition
  • Maintaining all aspects of the general ledger, with special attention to Accounts Payable, and accounts receivable reporting
  • Covenant compliance preparation
  • Providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses
  • Assisting with establishing and maintaining internal controls and policies
  • Assisting tax documentation preparation
  • Coordinating or assisting with the budget process
  • Investigating and resolving audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance
  • Assisting with annual and interim audit preparations
  • Contributing to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures
  • Researching accounting issues for compliance with GAAP
  • Performing other accounting duties as required or assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or equivalent required. Master’s degree is a plus
  • Private equity accounting experience is a plus
  • At least 5 years of experience in accounting, healthcare accounting or from an accounting firm, preferred.
  • CPA is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Hands-on approach assisting Controller to fix foundation of accounting department
  • Proven knowledge of accounting practices related to General Ledger, A/P, A/R, financial statement preparations
  • General understanding of tax preparation is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP compliance
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational and stress management skills
  • Demonstrates fiscal stewardship of company assets with integrity
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel
  • Self-motivated and comfortable managing multiple tasks at the same time
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform responsibilities in a fast-paced environment, requiring excellent organizational skills, sound judgment, and critical decision making
  • Team player with positive attitude and good communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours when needed to deliver results
