The Medical Assistant (MA) supports the daily clinical operations of the wound care practice by performing dual responsibilities as both a Medical Scribe and a clinical assistant. This role ensures accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters while providing hands-on clinical support to the wound care provider. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Medical Assistant Job Responsibilities:
- Document real-time patient encounters during examinations and procedures under the provider’s direction.
- Accurately record patient histories, physical exam findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up instructions.
- Enter orders for medications, labs, and imaging as directed by the provider (per scope and clinic protocols).
- Maintain organized and thorough electronic medical records (EMR) to support accurate billing and continuity of care.
- Ensure all documentation complies with legal, ethical, and organizational standards.
- Prepare visit summaries and assist in chart completion before the visit is closed.
Wound Care Clinical Support
- Prepare exam rooms, supplies, and instruments for wound care procedures.
- Assist the provider with wound assessments, dressing changes, debridement setup, compression therapy preparation, and other in-clinic treatments.
- Clean, dress, and bandage wounds under provider supervision and within MA scope.
- Take and document wound measurements, photographs, and progress notes.
- Perform basic clinical tasks including vital signs, patient intake, medication reconciliation, and patient education.
- Maintain infection-control standards and proper sterilization procedures.
- Manage wound care supply inventory and ensure equipment readiness.
Assistant Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, CCMA, etc.)
- Previous experience in wound care, dermatology, or specialized outpatient care is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and EMR systems
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong patient communication skills and professional bedside manner
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
- Ability to type 45+ words per minute
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and assist during procedures
- Comfort with handling wound care dressings, bodily fluids, and clinical equipment
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and support patient mobility as needed
Work Environment:
- The job duties and functions for this position are required to be on-site 5 days/week.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $22.00-30.00 per hour
