The role
The Designer is responsible for executing the creative concepts of the Art team and building layouts while working within production guidelines. The role is for designers who have exceptional design and production skills, and can implement them across media and channels. The Designer i s able to seamlessly switch gears between design and production in both the print and digital disciplines.

Design skills:
Knowledge of print and interactive design: familiar with web design, layer comps, iOS platform, desktop applications, mobile and emails. Basic understanding of UI design concepts.
Knowledge of print design, print production and retouching required.

Production Skills:

Has full knowledge of print processes, mechanical builds and quality assurance procedures. Can produce high-quality compart for pitches or layout.

Makes corrections to layouts (art and copy)as indicated by brand team or client.
Reviews corrected pages for accuracy and completeness of corrections

Collaborates with Art Directors during preliminary/concepting stages of work to provide composite artwork utilizing Photoshop and/or Illustrator or other current software.
May also assist in creating or editing charts, graphs, logos, etc.

Works with Creative and Production to translate specifications into production artwork
Adheres to and monitors agency guidelines related to file naming, file and folder management, scanning, mechanical builds, prepressing, disk prep, back-up/archiving, and un-archivingof digital files.
Keeps Studio Manager informed when said guidelines are not being followed.

Prepares mechanical and/or prepress files correctly, applying knowledge of commercial printing to the construction of these electronic files, as well as troubleshooting documents as necessary
Organizes and maintains a level of quality control over master art and master logos
Keeps current with software and industry standards
Is a proponent for new efficiencies and techniques
Assists in training freelancers and new employees
Assists in developing brand guidelines with Art Directors (colors, logos, master artwork, style)when called upon to do so
Releases perfect, print-ready files as specified
Communication:
Open communication with supervisor to share progress of work and design and communicates with art team.
Is proactive in finding solutions for the project.

Experience:
Knowledge of agency functions or applicability of experience, previous design experience in digital and print.

Background/experience and skills
BA of BFA degree in graphic design, interactive design, advertising or other design-related program
2+ years of experience
Pharmaceutical advertising agency experience a plus
Must be able to work flexible hours when needed
Quick and proficient Macintosh skills on digital production software including: QuarkXPress,Adobe CS(Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), AdobeAcrobat, Pre-Flight software
Knowledge of Macintosh operating system
Cross-platform knowledge and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint,Word, Excel)
Ability to conceive 3-dimensionally and ability to draw a plus
Deadline driven, detail oriented, and organized
