POSITION SUMMARY:
Production Assistant Manager assists the Production Manager in the coordination of activities related to the assigned production area of responsibility.  Monitors safety, quality, productivity and all other areas as needed.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
  • Responsible to assist production manager in day to day duties related to Key Performance Indicators to achieve production goals and objectives.
  • Provide supervision and direction to Supervisors, Engineers and team members.
  • Recommend and assist in implementing measures to improve methods, equipment, performance, product quality, efficiency through proper follow up, daily information sharing, training, and production reports.
  • Meet all direct and indirect labor goals to control cost and to ensure that appropriate number of employees are staffed and trained to ensure quality product.
  • Work with HR and supervisors on issues of disciplinary action, hiring, interviewing, rewards and recognition, employee performance reviews.
  • Oversee and/or resolves worker conflicts and problems.  Ensure team members have the tools to perform and meet departmental goals and corporate expectations.
  • Follow, explain and clarify company policies and procedures.
  • Coach, counsel, train and motivate team members to deliver good performance.
  • Participate and facilitate groups, cross-functional teams and other task forces for various projects and improvements.
  • Support plant and departmental initiatives.  Promote 5S projects throughout the plant.
  • Communicate plant goals/expectations and develop/implement plans to achieve goals.
  • Support and ensures compliance with current quality and environmental systems.
  • Support Environmental, Health and Safety objectives and requirements.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERINCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 6+ years in supervisory role overseeing employees and being responsible for process management and improvement is required.
  •  6+ years in automotive manufacturing preferred.
  • Computer skills to include Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
All department personnel including hourly and salary team members
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  Office Work Environment.
  Plant work environment with fluctuations in temperature (hotter in the summer, cooler in the winter). Exposure to certain noise levels and bright lights.
  Required to wear company-issued personal protective equipment on the production and other areas as required.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  Lifting up to 35 lbs.
  Standing / walking for extended periods.
  Sitting for extended periods.
 Ability to stay focused for extended periods of time.
  Ability to multitask.
  Ability to analyze information, identify problems.
 
TRAVEL:
Travel by car or plane may be required.
