Description

As a Tool Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining molds, machines and auxiliary equipment to meet quality and customer requirements. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
 
  • Providing support for the transfer/installation of new molds, resins and machinery
  • Clean, repair and overhaul Hot Runner Systems, molds, components, machines and auxiliary equipment to manage cycle times, quality and reliability requirements
  • Prepare molds, bases and inserts to meet changeover schedules
  • Ability to complete PM protocols using our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Startup, shutdown and operate injection molding machines
  • Support the development of new and existing operators, apprentices and technical specialists
  • Provide verbal updates, status of work, technical problems and their solutions to colleagues during shift change meetings
  • Participates in special projects as required
  • Provide absentee coverage for existing Operators and Process Specialists and Mold Technicians
  • Supports and participates in EHS objectives
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 
 
 
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum 3 years of relevant injection molding mold, machine and auxiliary equipment repair experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required
  • Completion of a DOL approved apprenticeship program emphasizing plastics manufacturing technology is preferred
  • 2 year degree in a Manufacturing or Engineering related field is a plus
COMPETENCIES
 
 
  • Knowledge of mold repair, overhaul, modification  and preventive maintenance activities
  • Knowledge of hot runner systems repair and setup
  • Knowledge of plastics technology including screws and barrels, molding material delivery systems, temperature control units, grinders, dryers, separators and their applications
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and power transmission systems
  • Knowledge of mold design as well as associated drawings and specifications that define and describe their function and operation
  • Can use computers, programs and their applications as needed
  • Technical Skills – Precision Measuring, Blueprint Reading, use of department tools and equipment including material handling equipment, English/Metric conversion

WORK ENVIRONMENT
