Quality Engineer

Description

Quality Engineer is responsible for monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring issues are resolved timely and effectively and quality standards are maintained. You will report to a Quality Manager and work side-by-side with a Quality Team members and other cross functional teams.   
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
  • Assist manager in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system.
  • Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system.
  • Monitor customer quality performance including supplier/or customer interaction and development.
  • Respond to and communicate internally and externally on customer quality issues including updates to customers on status of corrective actions.
  • Lead coordination of containment issues to include root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns.
  • Work with the cross function teams (ex. production team) to address customer quality issues, timely resolution of issues, corrective actions and preventive actions.
  • Participate in or lead problem solving teams as assigned, analyze failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints.
  • Support the quality inspection process to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system.
  • Support EHS objectives
  • Other duties may be assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERINCE:
 
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field required.
  • 1-3 years related experience in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with high volume production process preferred.
  • Basic metrology skills, Blue print reading and SPC knowledge.
  • Computer skills to include Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  
  Office Work Environment. 
  Plant work environment with fluctuations in temperature (hotter in the summer, cooler in the winter). Exposure to certain noise levels and bright lights. 
  Required to wear company-issued personal protective equipment and follow safety-related requirements. 
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  
  Lifting up to 50 lbs (with assistance). 
  Standing /Walking for extended periods. 
  Sitting for extended periods. 
  Frequent bending, reaching with arms forward/above the shoulders. 
  Ability to stay focused for extended periods of time. 
  Ability to multitask. 
  Ability to analyze information, identify problems. 
 
TRAVEL: 
Travel by car or plane may be required occasionally.
