Job Description and Performance Standards

Reports to: Manager of Hamilton Spine Health and Sport
Shift: Varies, M-F potential for occasional weekends
Status: Part Time
This position is responsible for developing/teaching individually designed golf swings and practice plans for current HSHS clients with neck, back and other orthopedic conditions while adhering to the treatment plans, instructions and limitations set by the Physical Therapists and the Sports Performance Trainer of Hamilton Spine Health and Sport. This position will complete the continuum of care from the golf studio and clinical environment to the participating driving range and golf course if needed. This position will also provide instruction/golf development for individuals who may not have the above mentioned medical conditions but desire elite level golf instruction.
Responsibilities for this position include, but not limited to : coaching and providing golf analysis to groups and/or individuals of all ages and ability; operate, promote and teach golf clinics and camps; assist in the startup and operations of a n elite level Junior Golf Academy; promote and assist in operations of Junior/Adult Golf Fitness classes; promote and operate events/outings at the HSHS Golf Performance Center; provide preview lessons for HSHS clients in conjunction with our therapists; promote Srixon/Cleveland/XXIO/Club sales; assists in the operation of our social media presence and platform; establish a client database and quarterly newsletter; everyday operations including but no0t limited to : scheduling, cleaning, instruction, payment transactions, documenting, administrative duties, etc.
The golf instructor will also have the opportunity to train and utilize the biomechanics equipment (motion capture, Optogait, EMG, K-vest, golf simulator) within the department.
This person may be asked to represent HSHS and the golf instruction center through community events, speaking engagements, local schools, and golf tournaments that the HSHS administration sees a fit to support the local community and generate new clientele. This may also include creating special events or programs that bring awareness to HSHS and the Golf Instruction Center (ex. Seasonal golf clinic/camps.)
Education: Graduate of an accredited college or university
Experience: Understanding of golf swing instruction, biomechanical movement patterns and working through injuries. College or professional golf experience preferred. Experience in golf instruction or coaching a range of clients of different ages and backgrounds.
Skills: Proficient in teaching private lessons, group clinics, and junior programs. Ability to develop players through full swing, short game, and golf course management. Knowledge of golf simulators and golf instruction technology a must. Enthusiastic about coaching and learning, strong interpersonal skills, good communication and time management skills. Experience in sales and marketing. Basic first aid and CPR techniques.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Works within a golf studio inside a specialized physical therapy treatment setting in an outpatient clinic. Will also be required to travel to local golf courses or training facilities to continue the curriculum needed for the client. May also be required to travel to generate sales and brand awareness. May be required to work a flexible schedule. Exposure to hazardous chemicals and equipment found in a typical therapy setting. May work in the outpatient department or other community locations in specialized events.

Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position. Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, swinging and pulling. Frequent repetitive motions. Continuous standing and walking. May be required to travel.
