Shift: M-F with potential for some weekends
The Sports Performance Trainer/Golf Instructor I is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the gym and motion analysis system located in the Biomechanics Lab of Spine Health & Sport. Responsible for Safely and effectively instructing exercises to groups and individuals of all ages and performance levels. Responsible for the planning, execution, and instruction of exercises specific for the rehabilitation and performance improvement of patients of Spine Health & Sport as coordinated with the Physical Therapists. Must be familiar with the administration of and analysis of data obtained from Organic Motion, Optogait, and K-Vest systems. Must be available to travel to conduct performance evaluations of collegiate, professional, or club sports players and teams.
The Sports Performance Trainer/Golf Instructor I is also responsible for enhancing/teaching individually designed golf swings and practice plans for current HSHS clients with neck, back and other orthopedic conditions while adhering to the treatment plans, instructions and limitations set by the Physical Therapists. This position will complete the continuum of care from the golf studio and clinical environment to the participating driving range and golf course if needed. This position will also provide instruction/golf development for individuals who may not have the above mentioned medical/physical conditions but desire elite level golf instruction.
Responsibilities include but not limited to coaching and providing golf or fitness analysis to groups and or individuals of all ages and ability, operate, promote and assist in golf clinics and camps; assist in the startup operations of an elite level Junior Golf Academy; promote and assist in operations in conjunction with our physical therapists; promote Srixon/Cleveland/XXIO Club Sales; assists in the operation of our social media presence and platform; establish a client database and quarterly newsletter; everyday operations including but not limited to scheduling, cleaning, instruction, payment transactions, documenting, and administrative duties, etc. as they pertain to golf and sports performance clients. In order to perform the aforementioned duties, this person must work closely with and communicate with the Golf Performance and Instruction Manager.
The Sports Performance Trainer/Golf Instructor I may be asked to represent HSHS and the Golf Instruction center through community events, speaking engagements, local schools, and golf tournaments that HSHS and the administration sees fit in order to support the local community and generate new clientele. This may include creating special events or programs that bring awareness to HSHS and the Golf Instruction Center.
EDUCATION: Bachelor Degree in the biological sciences (Biology, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or Biomechanics)
LICENSURE: CPR certification: ACE, AFAA< ACSM, BTS or equivalent fitness certification corresponding with designated program of fitness and approved by the Spine Health & Sport Manager
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3 years’ experience with group or individual exercise instruction. Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an elite/competitive golf player either through collegiate play or professional play.
JOB SKILLS: Must possess excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to motivate various populations in exercise. Must be in exceptional physical condition, energetic, enthusiastic, and customer service oriented.
