Title:  Hospice Administrator / Clinical Manager   554401495

Department: Hospice 

Reports To:  Director of Home Health and Hospice

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm

Status: Full Time

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Hospice  Administrator is responsible for the implementation of  policies and procedures related to the management, operation, and evaluation of the overall performance of the hospice; The administrator ensures the hospice employs  qualified staff, including physicians, practitioners, nurses, social workers, clergy, volunteers, or other persons providing services at the hospice; The Hospice Administrator oversees the selection, evaluation and development of clinical staff to maximize the quality of patient care, productivity and utilization.

The Hospice Administrator works closely with the Director of Home Health and Hospice, the Hospice QAPI Coordinator, and members of the hospice interdisciplinary group to promote the highest standards of care provided to hospice patients. .

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Undergraduate degree in the fields of nursing, social work, medicine, or health care administration. Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.

License Requirements

  • Must be (a) a licensed physician, licensed registered nurse, or licensed social worker  in  the state of Georgia with at least three years of documented experience in discipline/field of study with at least one year of supervisory or management experience in a hospice, palliative care , or home health setting. OR
  • (b) An individual with education, training, and experience in health service administration who has at least two years of supervisory or management experience in a hospice setting.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Current Driver's License and vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation.

Skills: Must have a working knowledge of hospice operations and knowledge of management processes. Requires the ability to identity issues, make sound judgments and decisions, tackle complex assignments, demonstrate leadership, show initiative and risk taking, planning, and resource management, interpersonal skills, communication skills, adaptability and staff development. Must exhibit knowledge of organizational policies, regulatory requirements and procedures to administer hospice care.  Excellent working relationships with patients, patient caregivers, medical staff and the general public are essential.


PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Requires moderate amount of sitting and walking.  This position is responsible for overseeing the working environment of all departmental staff.  Works in an office or residential or institutional home setting, dealing with staff, as well as, with patients experiencing a wide range of medical/surgical conditions at end of life.  The commitments of the position may require evening, night or weekend work to meet deadlines and ensure viable functioning of the department.  Physically, the position requires correct vision, hearing to normal range, manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, full range of motion, prolonged standing and walking and ability to lift and move patients.
