Job Description and Performance Standards

 

Title: Laboratory Information System Manager / Instrumentation Specialist   554021524

Department:  Laboratory

Reports To:  Director, Laboratory Services

Shift: 8:00am -  4:30pm / Monday  -Friday

Status: Full-Time

 

JOB SUMMARY

Oversees all operations related to the laboratory information system, reference laboratory interfaces as well as remote products to physician offices, including daily maintenance functions, systems updates, and troubleshooting.  The LIS Manager is responsible for education, maintenance, updates troubleshooting of the laboratory information system.:  Coordinates, develops, and maintains the scope and performance of laboratory information systems projects. Maintains project documentation by formulating and implementing policies and procedures. Maintains and updates the system.   . 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or Natural Science

Licensure: Current certification as a Medical Technologist, ASCP, NCA, AMT, ASCLT, or equivalent.  Must maintain current certification throughout employment at Hamilton Medical Center.  Must meet Georgia State Laws of licensure of clinical laboratories.

Experience: Two years of experience in computer operations, five years clinical laboratory experience. 

Skills: Exhibit managerial and interpersonal skills.  Technically competent (technical).  Ability to obtain and interpret pertinent Information in terms of the patients’ needs that are age appropriate.  Ability to select proper instrumentation / supplies appropriate for age group of patient served.

 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Exposed to the hazards normally associated with a clinical laboratory setting, such as, exposure to disease-bearing specimens, toxic chemicals and hazardous wastes.  Walking, standing, sitting, bending, and stooping required.  Must work under stress of time constraints and heavy workload demands.  Subject to call back as needed.
