Job Description and Performance Standards
Title: Distribution Shift Supervisor
Department: Materials Management
Reports To: Materials Manager
Shift: M-F every other weekend, rotating holidays
Status: Full Time
Responsible for the daily operation of distribution function in Materials Management. Ensures adequate staffing, prepares work schedules, determines work priorities, and monitors quality control. Provides work instruction and assists associates with difficult and/or unusual assignments; encourages innovation. Assigns and distributes work, reviews work for accuracy and completeness and returns assignments with recommendations for proper completion. Acts as a liaison between the professional staff and Materials Management Technicians. Participates in personnel related functions including the selection of new employees, training and orientation. Duties involve weighing and evaluating factors requiring judgment, analytical ability and problem solving. Responsible for simultaneous coordination and supervision of several functions, programs or projects in various stages of completion. Manages group processes; encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust and group identity. Fosters commitment and team spirit and works with others to achieve goals. Performs all duties and maintains all standards in accordance with company policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: High School graduate, Associates Degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum two years supervisory experience. Three years supply and inventory control experience preferably in a hospital setting.
Skills: Requires excellent verbal, written communication and analytical skills. Acquire and maintain knowledge of MMIS computer system, MediClick and Microsoft Outlook. Requires the ability to prioritize and complete assignments with minimum supervision, the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines and attention to detail. Thorough knowledge of medical supplies. Requires the ability to identify potential problems in advance to preempt them or minimize them. Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, department staff and other organization staff.
