Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Status: Full Time

JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Informatics Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting the providers, support staff and administration and the technologies they utilize. Provides indirect patient care in the clinical setting using the nursing process.  Provides leadership and direction in the planning and administration of information technology projects that impact clinical departments. The position is responsible for coordinating aspects of the planning, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical information systems used in the nursing process.  The position will direct the design of appropriate user training, actively participate in change management processes, and work collaboratively with others to identify opportunities for work process improvement.  The clinical informatics specialist draws on his or her broad clinical expertise and informatics knowledge to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer application and to ensure that information systems are consistent with professional standards of clinical practice.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Associates degree in nursing, IT or other health related areas required. Bachelor degree in formation technology, Health Administration, Informatics, Nursing or other health program, strongly preferred. Master’s degree is desirable.

Licensure: Active RN license or other healthcare certification preferred. IT and/or informatics certifications preferred.

Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience in clinical healthcare operations is required. Five years’ experience with electronic health records (EHR). Previous experience with provider workflow configuration, order set build, development of database queries, ERH application and user support preferred. Previous informatics project development or project management experience is desirable.

 Skills: Possesses both technical and functional understanding of the tenets of informaticsDemonstrates the ability to be self-directed with excellent organizational, analytical, writing, interpersonal and project-related skills.  Demonstrates excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.  Communicates effectively with all patient care-related disciplines; utilizing verbal, written, or electronic methods.

                       

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.  Requires working under stressful conditions in typical office and patient care area situations.  A flexible schedule is required.
