Job Description and Performance Standards

Title:  Graphic Designer / Digital Media Specialist 339565712

Department:  Marketing

Reports To:  Director, Marketing

Shift:  8:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday, ONSITE

Status:  Part Time


The Graphic Designer / Digital Media Specialist uses refined artistic skills and design principles to conceptualize and create aesthetically appealing and strategic content for print, video, and digital media that best reflects the Hamilton Health Care System brand. An innovative and elevated design style is necessary, as is the ability to effectively manage projects and tight deadlines within an established budget and scope. The designer must have strong interpersonal communication skills with the desire to collaborate with other Marketing team members, service line clients, and the public whom we serve. As an internal marketing agency for the entire system, each Marketing team member has a broad range of responsibilities that varies based on the project scope and objectives. The designer must be able to balance media projects ranging in complexity from full magazine layouts and advertising campaigns, video filming and production, to resizing and preparing files for print and digital media. Staying abreast of advances in technology, style, and color in the design industry and identifying areas of application in the organization is a must.


Education:  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in graphic design, video production, or related field is required.

Licensure:  N/A

Experience:  A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of work experience in graphic design, digital media, marketing, or related field is required. Internships may be considered for a portion of the requirement, though job-related work experience is preferred. A portfolio of diverse projects is a must and will be reviewed if interviewed. 

Skills:  In addition to the necessary technical and artistic skills in graphic design and digital media, this individual must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, positive community reputation and ‘people’ skills, including the ability to work as a team member with associates and physicians. The successful candidate is a highly motivated self-starter who sets priorities and achieves defined objectives with minimal supervision, yet also works well within a group-collaborative environment. Proficiency in Adobe design programs is a must (InDesign and Illustrator at a minimum).

Works in a typical office environment. Ability to meet deadlines and budgets is critical. Self-supervision will be expected. Work outside the office is required. Requires hearing and vision corrected to normal range. Requires working under sometimes stressful conditions and subject to working irregular hours including overtime and weekends.
