Job Description and Performance Standards
Title: Director of Radiology
Department: Imaging Services
Reports To: Vice President
Shift: 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday
Status: Full Time
Under the direction of the Vice President, the Director of Imaging Services administers radiology programs, directs and coordinates activities in accordance with national standards and administrative policies and procedures. The director is responsible for the quality and satisfaction of all Imaging Services provided and for managing the continuum of care throughout the service line to adhere to the most efficient and effective use of the service. The position is responsible for managers of various imaging service lines. Primary customers are patients and families, physicians, department staff, other health care associates, and other departments.
Education: Graduate of accredited school of radiologic technology required. Bachelor’s degree in health-related field or equivalent required. Master’s degree in health-related field or equivalent preferred.
Licensure: Current ARRT license required. Other professional memberships encouraged, including the AHRA, ASRT, CRA, etc.
Experience: At least five years of previous hospital patient care experience, with demonstrated leadership in the areas of communication, fiscal responsibility, customer relations, motivation, problem solving systems thinking and change management. At least five years of hospital experience in radiology management.
Skills: Must have thorough knowledge of radiology operations. Be able to manage multiple priorities. Computer experience required and mechanical aptitude helpful. Should have exceptional human relations skills and excellent communication abilities. Must have knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis, accounting and planning. Must be a self starter with executive leadership abilities.
Equipment: PACS, RIS and PC Systems, telephone, facsimile and radiology equipment.
