Job Description and Performance Standards
Title: Barista 558019022
Department: Food Service
Reports To: Food Service Supervisor/Retail Manager
Shift: 6:30am to 3:30pm Monday - Friday
Status: Full Time
Performs a variety of food service duties in the process of portioning, set up and preparation of Hot and Cold Beverages and Displaying and Serving Ready to Eat Foods and Pastries. This Job will require a high energy and the ability to engage guests while working on other tasks. The Barista Position will also function as cashier and be responsible for large sums of cash. The Barista Position will also be responsible for displaying the Heart of Hamilton Values at all times, be able to stand for long periods, and be able to lift up to 30lbs. This Position will require training to utilize industrial restaurant equipment that could cause serious harm if handled incorrectly. This position will require basic education including the ability to tell time and dates.
Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.
Experience: will train, but 1 year food service or customer service experience is preferred.
Skills: Operation of food production equipment, espresso machine, cash register.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in a typical institution kitchen setting subject to the hazards associated with such an environment including wet surfaces, cleaning and cooking equipment, and sharp instruments. Moderate amounts of lifting, stooping, stretching and bending. Extended periods of standing or walking are required.
