We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Marine Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support marine operations, assist with vessel maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Responsibilities:
- Load equipment and supplies onto the vessel manually.
- Attach terminal tackle such as floats, weights, hooks, and leaders to rod and reel equipment.
- Tie appropriate fishing knots (e.g., Palomar, improved clinch knot).
- Remove fish from hooks.
- Clean fish.
- Place catches in containers.
- Clean and maintain boats, marine equipment, and storage areas.
- Wash deck, knives, and other equipment using brush, detergent, and water.
- Check engine fluid levels and add fluids as needed.
- Secure and remove vessel docking lines at docks and other vessels.
- Drive inshore boats to local marinas for fueling.
- Drive a vehicle towing trailered vessels and launch vessels.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and deliver vessels and trailers for maintenance as needed.
- Prepare boats for fishing trips by maintaining tackle, bait, performing safety checks, ensuring proper safety equipment is onboard, and other duties as required.
- Perform minor repairs (tighten screws, replace bulbs, lubricate boat items).
- Assist with other tasks as assigned, including:
- Running errands (e.g., picking up or dropping off fishing equipment for repair)
- Shopping for food, supplies, and other requested items
- Organizing and cleaning storage and garage areas
- Minor carpentry and repair work.
Requirements:
- Minimum of GED and two years of experience operating a boat
- Must have a valid fishing license.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have a valid recreational boating license.
- Strong knowledge of fishing, inshore and offshore.
- Manage time and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of inshore and offshore boating.
