WP is searching for a Marketing Assistant who is passionate about children’s publishing and has exceptional writing skills to assist and lead on select marketing campaigns for book and calendar titles within the Workman Kids, Algonquin Young Readers, Workman Adult, Artisan, and Workman Calendars imprints, with a specific focus on the Workman Kids and AYR imprints. This role will run the Workman TikTok and be a key player in supporting Workman social media channels. This position reports to the Assistant Director, Marketing & Digital Content and resides within the WP Marketing and Publicity department. 
 
This role is a hybrid office/work-from-home schedule and requires two days (Wednesday and Thursday) in the NY office. 
  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Independently own and manage marketing campaigns for select Workman Kids, Algonquin Young Readers, Workman, Artisan, and Workman Calendars titles
  • Assist on lead marketing campaigns for select titles across imprints
  • Request creation of ads and sales materials, working with Creative Services and Digital Marketing team
  • Work with third-party organizations and brands to create cross-promotional opportunities for books and authors
  • Oversee strategy, own content creation, and management of Workman TikTok account
  • Contribute to overall social media strategy, including copywriting and visual content creation, across Instagram, X, Facebook, and LinkedIn for various WP imprints
  • Support day-to-day social media activities including scheduling content, monitoring comments/messages, and other community management tasks
  • Run and present regular analytic reporting for social accounts as needed
  • Administrative tasks include: processing weekly invoices, maintenance of department campaign materials, contacts sheet & addresses, facilitating mailings both in person and online, note-taking at meetings, planning department cultural initiatives, overseeing department Dropbox folder including biweekly email sends, build and update book website pages, keywords, and metadata, and maintain the AYR influencer database.
  • Support the Assistant Director, Marketing & Digital Content and Sr. Director, Marketing, as needed on related projects.
  
Qualifications: 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Superb organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Strong visual eye with an interest in design
  • Experience using online design tools such as Canva and possession of photography skills is a plus
  • Prior marketing, publishing, or social media experience through part-time work or internships is preferred
  • Enthusiasm for and strong understanding of major social media platforms
  • Positive attitude, an eagerness to learn, and a willingness to ask questions
  • Knowledge of the full Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is a plus

The compensation for this position is $47,500. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
