About the Role

The primary function of the Sr. Digital Production Manager will be to help coordinate a new Digital Workflow service for Hachette Book Group's publishers from within our shared Production Department. As such, the role requires familiarity with digital publishing routines and technology. Their mandate will be to work on behalf of publishers to ensure that book production routing brings them efficiency improvements and to see that other licensed book production software is used properly and to its best potential.

This role is a part of the Digital Production department based in New York that supports multiple Hachette publishers.

The manager will provide ongoing support and help to ensure that all asset-related services for book production are working efficiently together.

They will collaborate with staff in Digital Operations, Production, Managing Editorial, Art, Editorial, and I.T., to oversee PDF and e-book automated routing workflows and schedules. This includes coordinating requirements, best practices, user training, and overall compliance to PDF and e-book routing policies.

They will also help manage the policies for other related software applications used in the preparation and sharing of book and e-book files. This includes coordinating user requirements for how workflow-related design software is to be configured, such as shared InDesign settings and fonts. It also includes coordinating requirements for print and e-book conversion colleagues and helping identify software opportunities to improve our production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Optimization of book production PDF and e-book routing workflow tasks
  • Administration in Adobe Workfront for project management business requirements
  • Coordination of shared Adobe Creative Cloud resources (plugins, scripts)
  • Coordination of font and barcode management with users
  • Coordination of related best practices and governance for digital operations

Job Requirements

The role requires at least 5-10 years of relevant experience with publishing production, digital media workflow, and project management.

Candidates are recommended to have at least 1-2 years of prior management experience.

Applicants are recommended to have prior experience working with Workfront or similar project management applications (Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, Asana, etc) and familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud design applications. Experience with configuring project management templates and reports in Workfront is preferred but not essential. The ideal candidate enjoys investigating various digital routines for opportunities to make the interlocking steps more efficient and user-friendly.

Written communication skills must be exceptional.
