Hachette Book Group Canada has an opening for a creative, ambitious, and experienced full-time publicist for a 14-month contract, five days per week (three days work from home, two days in the Toronto office). 
Duration: This is a 14-month contract position.
 
Location: Toronto – Publicist will be in the downtown Toronto office two days per week (Wednesday/Thursday), and work from home three days per week. Toronto office located: 20 Richmond St E.
 
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Schedule media interviews (print, television and radio) for specific HBG titles (including children’s and adult titles)
  • Schedule and coordinate author publicity and event tours across Canada
  • Coordinate media mailings for author publicity tours and media interviews
  • Track media coverage and create publicity reports
  • Manage and develop content for three social media accounts via Hootsuite (X, Facebook, Instagram) for HBG Canada and Hachette UK Canada
  • Maintain and update database of influencer contacts
  • Manage blogger and influencer outreach program in Canada to promote all HBG titles
  • Create seasonal newsletters using Mailchimp to highlight upcoming titles available for request
  • Manage blogger database to record books sent and review links received
  • Liaise directly with book bloggers and influencers in Canada and fulfill requests as needed
  • Repost and amplify content from HBG corporate accounts and publisher accounts
  • Create monthly and annual social media analytics reports to look at overall growth and engagement and highlight social trends 
 
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate
  • Minimum two years experience in the Canadian publishing industry, specifically publicity
  • Proficient in conversing with authors, reaching out to media, booking media interviews and scheduling events with festivals and event partners
  • Experience using Canva and Hootsuite and a keen interest in social media
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good judgment and excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Strong organizational skills; detail-oriented
  • Ability to multi-task  
  • Ability to work in a small, team-oriented office

The compensation for this position ranges from $50,000-$57,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
