Summary:
Hachette Book Group is seeking an International Sales Assistant to join our International Sales team in New York, supporting our sales across the UK, Australia, New Zealand, India, and South Africa.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Associate Director of International Sales in managing closed market territories across Hachette Book Group imprints and distribution clients.
- Prepare title presentations, sales materials, catalogues, and seasonal sell sheets for international accounts and sales reps.
- Assist in presenting frontlist, backlist, and promotional titles to international distributors, reps, and customers as needed.
- Coordinate logistics and materials for seasonal sales meetings, go-to-market planning sessions, sales conferences, and international book fairs.
- Maintain accurate sales data, account records, pricing information, and internal systems.
- Track orders, sales activity, and inventory levels, flagging issues and opportunities to the Associate Director and relevant teams.
- Assist with sales forecasting, inventory planning, and allocation processes in collaboration with operations and supply chain teams.
- Compile regular sales reports and ad hoc analyses, including territory performance, title-level sales, and market trends.
- Conduct competitive research, including pricing benchmarks, market share insights, and territory-specific intelligence.
- Serve as a point of contact for international reps and distributors, supporting communication, follow-up, and international marketing initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Prior office experience, preferably in the publishing industry
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel – Pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
- Experience with Canva and/or other design software
- Highly organized self-starter with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Language skills a plus
- Familiarity with Edelweiss, publishing contracts, and international distribution channels a plus
- A passion for books and an interest in the global publishing landscape

The starting salary for this role is $50,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
