National Account Manager, Children’s Sales
Hachette Book Group is seeking a National Account Manager responsible for selling Hachette Book Group Children’s titles to major accounts such as Walmart, Readerlink, and Wholesale Clubs- Costco, Sams and BJs.
We are looking for a candidate who has a customer-centric mindset, is a strong communicator and someone who has a proven track record of building excellent working relationships with a variety of stakeholders internally and externally. The ideal candidate has a proactive mindset, an eye for detail and an analytical mindset. Strong presentation skills, commercial acumen and sales analysis skills are also vital to this highly visible sales role.
This is a NYC based role. Please note our current hybrid model is two days per week in the office. Effective in January 2025, HBG’s hybrid model will be 3 days in-office, 2 days working from home.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Maximizing sales growth on frontlist and backlist titles throughout the year
- Preparing and presenting all titles to the accounts on a regular basis by maintaining item set-up forms and using the vendor portal for data uploads in preparation for sell-in appointments
- Communicating with the wider sales team and Publishing regarding account activity and strategy and reorders
- Representing the account at all internal meetings including Launch, Strategy, Sales conference, and sales and marketing meetings
- Running weekly and monthly sales reports, including point of sale, sell-in recaps, market share updates, and seasonal promotions

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience with public speaking preferred
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with great attention to detail
- Ability to successfully prioritize and work on multiple projects at a time
- Ability to work well under pressure, and meet strict deadlines
- Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- The role is NYC based, and the candidate will need to be in the office two days a week as part of the hybrid working policy at HBG.

The compensation range for this position is $70,000-$90,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
