Client Sales Manager

SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Client Sales Manager to join the Hachette Book Group Client Division. This position will work closely with the Client Imprint Sales Director and the sales team to help increase sales and maximize backlist opportunities each season. This position will be essential in communication and collaboration between sales and all clients. Strong analytical and organizational skills are needed for this position. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Creating, managing and analyzing sales reports for frontlist, backlist and reorder opportunities.
  • Goal setting based on current marketplace and client publishers’ expectations.
  • Communication regarding breaking publicity with the sales team.
  • Ongoing sales and merchandising discussions with reps and client publishers.
  • Working with inventory and client publishers to anticipate stock needs.
  • Assisting with planning agendas and running various meetings.
  • Liaising between client publishers and reps for material requests and other general questions.
  • Ensure that all sales assets and materials – covers, interiors, fact sheets, sell-sheets, - are available for sales ahead of sales call deadlines.
 
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
 
  • Minimum of 4 years prior client services or sales experience with a working knowledge of key accounts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, effectively problem solve, and react quickly to changes.
  • Strong sales analysis and presentation skills.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office, with a specific focus on Excel.
  • Solid understanding of the entire publishing industry and process.
  • Solutions-focused when met with challenges and can comfortably adapt to changes.
This is a NYC-based position. Please note our current hybrid model is two days per week in the office. Effective in January 2025, HBG’s hybrid model will be 3 days in-office, 2 days working from home.

 The compensation range for this position is $65,000-$80,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
