Digital Content Specialist, Hachette Audio
The Hachette Audio Digital Content Specialist develops, manages, and executes digital storytelling for Hachette Audio’s 700+ frontlist titles and the audio backlist catalog.
Reporting to the President, Publisher of Hachette Audio and the Executive Director, Audience Development and Consumer Insights Consumer Engagement and Marketing Operations, this digital-first communicator produces compelling, accessible content—leveraging exceptional writing, multimedia creativity, and data-driven insight—across Hachette Audio and HBG Central Marketing (including the website, social media, email marketing, and multimedia platforms). This role transforms ideas into digital experiences that inform, inspire, and connects all formats of the author’s work into one compelling campaign.
Using audiobook assets as focus for digital strategy and content creation:
- Partner with HBG print, central marketing and digital sales teams to conceptualize and execute digital campaigns, elevating storytelling and aligning messages across book formats.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and execute strategies to expand author’s sales, engagement and community connection.
- Plan, write and edit content for Hachette Audio and HBG website, social media, email marketing, and other digital campaigns. Create or coordinate graphics, photos, and other visual assets to support stories.
- Lead audiobook live event coverage and create multimedia stories that reflect the audiobook listener’s experience.
- Experiment with new formats, technologies, and storytelling techniques to keep Hachette Audio’s digital presence innovative and relevant.
Collaboration and Project Management:
- Maintain editorial calendars, track assignments, and ensure projects meet standards for quality and timeliness.
- Use analytics to evaluate story effectiveness and audience engagement.
- Support continuous improvement of processes for content planning, production and publication.
- Serve as a consultant on digital content and storytelling projects across HBG.
- Provide training and guidance to colleagues on content best practices, analytics and digital trends.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Applicant Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Proven excellence in writing, editing, and storytelling across digital and print platforms.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- 5-7 years of professional experience in digital communications, writing, and editing.
- Proficiency with content management systems (Wordpress preferred), social media management tools, and analytics dashboards.
- Working knowledge of basic graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- An audiobook listener.

The compensation for this position is $70,000-$80,000. Salary can vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
