National Account Manager – Barnes & Noble

Summary:
Hachette Book Group is seeking a dynamic, results-driven National Account Manager to join our Retail Sales team, selling to Barnes & Noble. This high-visibility role is responsible for driving sales across multiple imprints, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and developing impactful marketing and promotional initiatives tailored to the account.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary sales contact for Barnes & Noble across multiple imprints within Hachette Book Group.
  • Present and sell frontlist, backlist, and seasonal promotional titles to the account.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to accurately forecast inventory needs and ensure timely stock availability.
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and refine account strategy.
  • Lead and organize title presentations and seasonal sales meetings with Barnes & Noble, addressing key priorities and responding to inquiries.
  • Partner with marketing and publicity teams to create and execute B&N-specific campaigns and initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate sales estimates and order data within internal systems.
  • Actively participate in go-to-market planning, including seasonal strategy meetings and sales conferences.
  • Serve as a liaison between B&N and publishing teams, delivering market insights and facilitating effective communication.
 
 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Proven sales leader with a strong background in trade publishing.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a major national account.
  • Skilled at managing multiple stakeholders and fostering productive communication across teams.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at multitasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Flexible and administratively efficient, with the ability to adapt to evolving priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Results-driven, with a proactive approach to achieving goals and taking ownership of responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce timely, accurate work with strong follow-up and follow-through.
  • Embraces innovation and continuous improvement, challenging established processes where appropriate.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative, constructive relationships both internally and externally; inspires teamwork and shared success.

The compensation range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
