Lead Material Flow and Internal Logistics Engineer Job Description

 

Summary

 

The primary responsibility of the Lead Material Flow and Internal Logistics Engineer is to find efficiencies and eliminate waste in the delivery, tracking and replenishment of parts and materials throughout the assembly process.  The Lead Material Flow and Internal Logistics Engineer will perform all aspects of continuous improvement in order to achieve inventory accuracy, on time material availability to the production line and overall productivity of the operation, including but not limited to:

  1. Support day-to-day materials operations and internal logistics by implementing and sustaining efficient and effective processes to ensure the correct quantity, quality, delivery and tracking of parts at each stage of the assembly operation.
  2. Establish, set, train and audit standard work for all warehouse processes.
  3. Develop and maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance, allocate resources and implement improvements.
  4. Analyze current processes and identify opportunities for improvement in accuracy and efficiency to reduce delay.  Strategically plan and sustain accurate inventory storage which includes Plan For Every Part (PFEP) and 5S.
  5. Ensure minimum 85% accuracy in inventory integrity in the materials flow system; identify root cause for inaccuracy and implement continuous actions to drive improvement.
  6. Meet cost, productivity, accuracy and timeliness targets by identifying resources needed to deliver production goals and objectives. Allocate resources to optimize daily goals for delivery and production accuracy, including component kit and bulk delivery, inbound component tracking and outbound shipping
  7. Implement best practices and standard processes to ensure safe operation and storage practices within all areas of the facility. Comply with laws, regulations and ISO requirements.

 

Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant Engineering discipline.
  • 10-15 years in internal logistics engineering and operations role.
  • Experience with 3PL start-ups from ground up and proven results.
  • Practical experience with a Lean Production System, including pull production and replenishment.
  • Strong work ethic, great attitude, and willingness to learn
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with ability to manage multiple priorities at once
  • Effective communicator across all levels of the organization
