Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Cape Town or Centurion, South Africa (On-Site)
Department: Global Infrastructure & Cloud Team
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support and enhance our global hybrid and multi-cloud environment. Working closely with the US-based Infrastructure Architect and Cloud Team, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise infrastructure across Azure, AWS, and on-premises platforms.
This is a hands-on engineering role with opportunities to contribute to architecture, modernization initiatives, and cloud strategy. The successful candidate will help ensure our global infrastructure remains secure, reliable, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support infrastructure solutions across Azure, AWS, and on-premises environments.
- Support cloud migration, modernization, and standardization initiatives, with Azure as the primary strategic platform.
- Manage and optimize core infrastructure services including networking, virtualization, storage, backup, monitoring, and identity management.
- Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
- Support disaster recovery, backup validation, and business continuity initiatives.
- Collaborate with global architects, engineers, developers, and IT teams to deliver reliable technology services.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
- Contribute to infrastructure automation, security improvements, and cost optimization efforts.
- Ensure compliance with security, access management, patching, and operational standards.

- Deliver reliable support and engineering expertise across the global infrastructure environment.
- Advance Azure-first cloud adoption while maintaining AWS and on-premises platforms.
- Improve operational efficiency, documentation, and global support coverage.
- Strengthen infrastructure security and reduce operational risk.
- Drive continuous improvement, standardization, and cost optimization.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, or systems administration.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including networking, compute, storage, security, and identity services.
- Working knowledge of AWS and hybrid cloud environments.
- Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, including virtualization, backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, and networking.
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, identity management, and security best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively across global teams and time zones.
Preferred
- Experience with VMware, Veeam, Palo Alto, Meraki, Pure Storage, Microsoft 365, and enterprise monitoring platforms.
- Experience supporting global or distributed organizations.
- Exposure to cloud migrations, data center modernization, and infrastructure consolidation projects.
- Experience with automation, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud governance practices.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, disaster recovery testing, and secure infrastructure design.
