Position Overview
The Head of Portfolio Operations is a pivotal executive responsible for ensuring alignment and efficiency across all operating entities within the group. This leader will deploy the group’s vision and mission across multiple organizations, optimize processes, manage budgets, and oversee staff to drive long-term sustainable growth, supported by GVW Group leadership. By fostering a culture of continuous improvement, the Head of Portfolio Operations will ensure that all entities operate cohesively while delivering on strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and operationalize the group’s vision, mission, and strategic goals across all entities within the portfolio, ensuring alignment and consistent execution.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to entity leaders, providing credible feedback on existing strategies and identifying opportunities for enhancement based on proven experience in similar roles.
- Collaborate with entity leadership to help shape and refine roadmaps for achieving strategic objectives, without being directly responsible for developing strategies.
- Review performance metrics and identify areas where goals are not being met; provide actionable, experience-backed recommendations to improve processes, outcomes, and alignment with overarching objectives.
- Ensure that operational priorities across entities support the group’s strategic direction, fostering integration and cohesion without micromanaging the strategic development process.
- Assist with the strategic and corporate development function during a phase of transformation and growth to continuously increase value by applying a long-term, process-focused mindset.
Operational Alignment and Oversight
- Establish and implement operational excellence frameworks tailored to the needs of each entity while ensuring group-wide consistency and synergy.
- Drive standardization of best practices across the portfolio, balancing individual entity needs with overarching group objectives.
- Oversee performance across all entities, ensuring adherence to quality, efficiency, and compliance standards.
Budget and Resource Management
- Develop and manage operational budgets across the group, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
- Monitor financial performance and resource allocation across entities to optimize efficiency and achieve cost-effectiveness.
- Partner with finance teams and entity leaders to align financial planning with operational objectives.
Staff Leadership and Development Across Entities
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to operational teams across all entities within the portfolio.
- Foster a collaborative culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement across diverse organizational teams.
- Identify and address training and development needs to build operational capabilities throughout the group.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Define, implement, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational effectiveness and success across the portfolio.
- Regularly review performance metrics and provide actionable insights to improve operational outcomes at both the entity and group levels.
- Prepare and present portfolio-wide performance reports to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Change Management and Transformation Across the Portfolio
- Lead large-scale transformational initiatives across entities, ensuring alignment with the group’s overarching vision and goals.
- Act as a change agent to ensure smooth implementation of new processes, systems, and cultural shifts across diverse organizations.
- Address resistance to change by aligning stakeholders and fostering buy-in across all levels of the organization.
Stakeholder Engagement Across Entities
- Serve as the central liaison between the group’s executive leadership and operational teams within each entity.
- Collaborate with entity leaders to identify challenges and develop tailored solutions that align with the group’s strategic priorities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for key initiatives.
Qualifications
Experience
- Proven Leadership: Minimum 10 years of experience in senior operational roles managing multi-entity portfolios or complex organizational structures.
- Transformation Expertise: Demonstrated success in leading large-scale operational transformations, driving measurable improvements across diverse teams or entities.
- Operational Alignment: Track record of aligning operational practices with overarching strategic goals in a multi-business or portfolio environment.
- Metrics-Driven Impact: Hands-on experience in evaluating organizational performance through KPIs and implementing actionable improvements.
- Influence: Strong track record of influencing and collaborating with C-Suite and Management teams to shape and deliver commercial solutions across several Business Services sectors.
- Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced Credentials: Master’s degree (MBA or similar) preferred for added strategic and leadership acumen.
- Certifications: Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt or equivalent) or other recognized operational excellence certifications are strongly preferred.
