 Operations leader-EV Pilot Build Team

 

As the Operations Leader in Pilot Line, you will manage our new EV Pilot Build team, work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Material Control, Quality and others, to validate New Products Processes, Equipment and Tools, ensure process set up readiness, and training content and methods, to support online production.

 

Conduct stall build activity as part Pilot program for demonstration and saleable vehicles ensuring a safe work environment, fostering a mindset of build in quality and achieving production targets.

 

Key Outcomes:

Ensure Pilot Build Schedule achieved, that Pilot Team complete build according to Process and Quality Specification, and support Material Availability by ensuring parts available to build Pilots. Ensure readiness for Start of Regular Production, avoid any delays to current production while new product introduced; Standardized processes and supporting documentation along with verification of training plans and activity to support online production Operations Managers and Team Leaders

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage Team Leader and Associates in Birmingham Pilot Build Area.
  • Maintain safe working environment, ensure required PPE and Safety protocols are followed.
  • Direct overall assembly activities required to complete pilot trucks.
  • Track and log all process and quality related issued found during a pilot build to ME and QE.
  • Work to meet pilot build schedule, address build issues appropriately, escalate to ME and QE as required.
  • Plan the loading of pilots to Frame, Assembly and Final lines for on-line work, communicate and coordinate with Operations Managers in respective area`s. Avoid delay to normal production, but recognize pilot schedule needs to be achieved as planned. Escalate load delays immediately.
  • Track material & part shortages, follow-up with material support with part kit`s, bulk and kanban deliveries. Action Bulk, Kanban and material pick orders to materials team for upcoming builds.
  • Support Team leader role and responsibilities, provide absenteeism coverage for TL, as required.
  • Maintain Pilot Build Area team Board. communicate and track issues and concerns, provide weekly feedback during Gemba walks.
  • Maintain 6S standards within Pilot Build area, perform regular 6S audits, and take action to improve.
  • Ongoing follow up with ME team on new programs, new major options that will require Pilot Build support, support development on Pilot program accordingly.
  • Attend pilot progress meetings as required.
  • Ensure training of new assembly associates are completed and skill levels tracked properly.
  • Perform other duties as requested by ME, or other senior managers.

  • Quick learner, who possesses strong problem-solving skills, demonstrating ability to troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis. Practical hands-on and creative approach to problem solving.

Position Requirements

  • 2-4 Year Engineering Degree in Mech or Elect., or
  • Preferred 5-8 years’ experience in Automotive or Truck assembly environment.
  • Preferred 3-5 years managing hourly staff within automotive or truck environment.
  • Ideally have experience with assembling mechanical & electrical components.
  • Solid understanding of methods, tools and concepts related to motion efficiency and waste elimination
  • Electric Vehicle experience is a plus
  • Have Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office apps.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English as it relates to the job requirements.

 

  • Must be willing to submit to a background check and drug screen.

  • Must be employed with your current/previous employer for one year uninterrupted.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to stand 8-10 hours per day.
