We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, connected senior industry leader to oversee GumGum’s growing Japan business. The candidate will have previous experience as a Commercial Director or Managing Director for an ad tech company, ad network or digital publisher. The candidate will have strong senior relationships at key agencies, brands and digital publishers across Japan, and will be capable of entertaining clients on a regular basis.  The candidate must have an extensive understanding of the Japan online media landscape and have 5-10 years of successful media sales management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, train and mentor a bilingual sales and business development team to expand GumGum’s business in Japan.
  • Achieve aggressive quarterly and annual revenue targets while also driving the growth of GumGum’s inventory through expanding publisher partnerships.
  • Oversee sales, publisher development, marketing, and operations teams with multiple direct reports.
  • Execute high level partnerships and agency trading agreements to drive revenue growth and PR opportunities.
  • Develop a marketing strategy for Japan and be a visible industry leader in the Japan market representing GumGum across events, speaking opportunities, and media coverage.
  • Responsible for regional budget and hiring plans.
  • Development and implement best practices for employee onboarding, training and internal communication.

Requirements

  • Business level English proficiency.
  • 5-10 years of  sales leadership responsibilities in digital advertising.
  • Demonstrated success selling to major agencies and brand advertisers in Japan.
  • Proven ability to manage and exceed aggressive revenue growth targets.
  • Successful experience working for an entrepreneurial, venture-backed company or international/global company is desired.
  • Process-oriented, approachable manager known for building team spirit and culture.
  • Autonomous, decisive leader and decision maker.
  • Willing to travel within Japan and abroad and entertain clients on a regular basis.
