Vice President, Finance and Accounting

Description

The successful candidate will assist the COO/President in providing leadership and coordination of GumGum’s accounting practices, financial planning, strategic financing, and budget management functions and ensure GumGum accounting procedures and reporting conform to generally accepted accounting principles. This position will be reporting to the COO/President and is located in the Santa Monica, CA office. 

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a strategic business partner to the COO/President.
  • Direct and coordinate financial planning and budget management functions
  • Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of the organization
  • Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget
  • Works with Controller to oversee daily operations of the accounting department
  • Assists with the preparation of all financial reports
  • Assists with the preparation of financial outlook analysis and financial forecasts
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal budgetary reporting requirements
  • Assist in establishing short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures for the Accounting Department.
  • Coordinate financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements
  • Meets budget requirements by providing annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions
  • Accomplishes accounting requirements by designing and maintaining accounting processes, including journal entries and general ledger, billing, collections, accounts payable, and accounts receivable; supervising bank reconciliations and closing processes; supporting annual budget process; developing and maintaining forecasts and models; ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP)
  • Establishes financial condition by preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow, and consolidated statements, and supporting schedules; comparing actual results to budget projections; developing summaries and interpretations
  • Improves financial condition by analyzing financial reports and variances; revising accounting policies and practices and internal control procedures
 Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required. Masters Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business with strong Accounting experience a plus
  • 10+ years experience in a small to mid level finance or accounting position, and a CPA (preferred)
  • Previous experience in a Media or AdTech environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting and profitability analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with a variety of functions across the organization
