Working with our dogs will inspire you.  We put our clients first and seek to exceed their expectations by supporting them with exceptional dogs trained to meet their unique needs, so they can live the life they want to live, and it starts in our Breeding Kennel where our nurturing and kind Technicians care for the Broods, Studs and young puppies (six to ten weeks old).
 
As a Breeding Kennel Technician, you will take on varied duties that include, but are not limited to, maintaining a clean kennel according to established guidelines, providing a high level of animal husbandry care and as well as performing basic breeding procedures, medical treatments, specimen collections, diagnostic tests, blood draws and administering vaccines to both adult dogs and puppies.

The Role
 
Normal shift hours will be Monday - Friday; 7am to 12pm
  • Provide a high level of animal husbandry care to all dogs including, but not limited to bathing, feeding, check overs, nail clipping, ear cleaning, and medicating in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Perform basic breeding procedures including progression evaluation and specimen collections, semen collection and evaluation, natural and vaginal inseminations
  • Perform assigned medical treatments, specimen collections and diagnostic tests (blood, urine, stool collection and analysis, heartworm test, brucellosis test, vaginal smears, semen analysis, etc.) according to standard procedures
  • Maintain accurate and timely records utilizing point of entry system
  • Clean and maintain equipment, kennel facilities and assigned grounds according to established protocols
  • Time management of workload using public Breeding Kennel calendar in Outlook
  • Effectively handle dogs in obedience and socialization.  Provide obedience, socialization and exercise support to dogs and puppies in the Breeding Kennel
  • Work with Kennel volunteers providing support, guidance and recognition
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications You Will Need
 
  • Physically able to lift and control 65-75 pound dogs and withstand up to two hours of repetitive bending, stooping, kneeling and squatting on concrete surface
  • Able to regularly lift and carry portable dog crates and dog pens weighing up to 30 pounds 
  • Experience caring for dogs in a kennel, veterinarian's office or training environment highly preferred
  • Reliability, high level of integrity and punctuality are essential  
  • Flexibility in availability is a must including weekends, evenings and holidays as required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work daily with accel, bleach and other cleaning agents
  • Ability to accurately assess situations and make quick, sound judgements
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs; Salesforce savvy a plus
  • Valid Driver's License

Salary: $20.00/hour
