Position Summary: 

The Marketing and Business Development Assistant will work directly with the Senior Marketing and Business Development Manager for the global Environmental practice and Tampa office to support in implementing marketing, events, business development and communications initiatives.  This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a highly-regarded and progressive team and will work hand in hand with the local marketing and office leadership. 

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Works hand in hand with the Senior Marketing and Business Development Manager to develop and implement the marketing and business development initiatives for the global Environmental practice and Tampa office
  • Assists with and manages a variety of short and long-term projects and attorney requests
  • Drafts, edits, and distributes marketing materials, internal marketing reports, press releases, seminar materials, client updates, and other client collateral communications, as needed
  • Creates and maintains records of the firm’s specific practice and office experience, utilizing the firm’s experience database
  • Assists with external and client-facing communication, including blogs, alerts, newsletters, articles, podcasts, social media posts, and other content
  • Drafts proposals utilizing practice descriptions, experience databases, and client lists
  • Assists in the deployment of programs and events hosted/sponsored by the firm, such as teleconferences, webinars, seminars, and other events, including the development and production of marketing materials and on-site logistics
  • Assists with responses to marketing surveys, directories and nominations for directory and ranking authorities such as Chambers and Partners, Legal 500, American Lawyer, The National Law Journal, U.S. News/Best Lawyers, and Best Law Firms, Lawdragon, and other industry specific directories
  • Organizes regularly scheduled practice group conference calls, as well as initiates follow-up on specific action items arising from those discussions
  • Collaborates with marketing professionals throughout the firm, including the communications team, marketing research team, RFP team, events team, and design team
  • Works with marketing research team to gather research and analysis on targets, industries, opposing counsel, and judges, as needed for business development purposes

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills—both written and oral--including solid composition, research, and editing skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • A positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills.


Qualifications & Prior Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Two to four years of relevant experience in a marketing or business development
  • High level of proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience at a law firm or other professional services firm is preferred
