Position Summary: 

The Research Attorney/Analyst will work as part of a nationwide team providing all GT offices, domestic and international, high levels of research services and support in a timely and cost-effective manner. This includes conducting a proper reference interview as well as completing the assigned request.  Requests will vary but can include comprehensive case law, public records, legislative history, legal analytics, and company due diligence research. The role requires a detail-oriented professional with exceptional analytical and communication skills with proficiency in utilizing legal databases and other research tools. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Firmwide research and reference support across all GT offices
  • Participates in local and national marketing and outreach initiatives related to research services
  • Works as a research liaison within their assigned office, the Innovation and Professional Development teams as well as any designated practice groups
  • Assists with other department activities as needed, and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Trains attorneys and staff on resources as needed

Skills & Competencies: 

  • Strong working knowledge of legal research strategies and use of various legal databases, including but not limited to, Lexis, Casetext, Westlaw, Lex Machina and Bloomberg Law
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive business research, such as company, bond, industry, statistical and financial research, employing such resources as CapitalIQ, D&B, Creditsafe, BVDOrbis, etc.
  • Proven analytical abilities to review information and evaluate its reliability, completeness, relevance, and importance to the assignment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written), professional demeanor and presentation
  • Ability to shift priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines and effectively prioritize multiple tasks, while maintaining a positive outlook
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision in a virtual team environment
  • Strong, innovative problem-solving and follow-up skills with an ability to take initiative and use of good judgment
  • High attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the firm and collaborate well in a team
  • Recognize confidential, sensitive, and proprietary information and maintain such information as confidential

Qualifications & Prior Experience: 

  • Advanced degree preferably in library science, law or business or a field of study preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of legal  experience and/or business research experience
  • Experience working in a large, global law firm or business environment
  • Multilingual abilities a plus
  • Computer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Exceptional Computer skills with the ability to learn new software application quickly
