Position Summary

The Senior Client Pursuits Manager will be responsible for the management and global oversight of the firm’s processes, resources, and other functions related to producing effective responses to formal proposals and targeted pitch materials. Supervise proposals managers and/or specialists and provide support to other department colleagues toward the same goals.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Leads and advises strategic and high-profile proposals firmwide and in designated practice area(s) and acts as a primary resource of proposal best practices for the firm.
  • Ensures all data gathering and processing for the firm’s proposals and pitches are accurate, consistent and submitted timely
  • Works to improve the firm’s proposal success rate while providing guidance and advice to all Managers, Attorneys, and Staff regarding general proposal activities
  • Follows the firm’s proposal processes to refine and continuously improve processes – including the go/no-go decision, developing a competitive strategy, preparing the interview team, and (after the hiring decision is made) debriefing the firm’s team and the prospective client to learn how the firm can compete more effectively in the future 
  • Assists in drafting and editing proposal templates, as well as maintain the templates and disclosure requirements on firm wide and regional pitch book elements such as profiles, experience lists, attorney biographies.
  • Develops innovative and creative proposal techniques to increase likelihood of winning proposals while taking the lead on socializing and indoctrinating best practices across the team.
  • General oversight of a centralized proposal management database system
  • Oversees the compilation and analysis of metrics regarding pitch and proposal preparation and respective win rates for reporting to firm management.
  • Supports the firm’s marketing and business development team, as needed, in standard and custom responses to meet the requirements as outlined in the Request for Proposals.
  • Coaches and trains the Marketing team regarding strategic proposals and how to use the firm’s pitch templates.
  • Manage and maintain currency of all pitch and proposal collateral in coordination with all stakeholders including Marketing Managers, Practice Group Chairs, Business Managers, Industry Team Leaders, and attorneys.
  • Manages workflow and facilitates internal communications related to office, practice and industry group proposals and supervisors’ efforts across marketing staff to ensure knowledge-sharing and communications

Qualifications & Prior Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of eight years relevant experience in marketing and business development at a law firm of other professional services firm, with proven experience responding to proposals and RFPs from both public and private sector clients
  • Experience supervising a team
