The Role:    

This role requires a motivated and ambitious lawyer to work within the Banking & Finance team in our London Office. This role may include an element of REF work from time-to-time, but the main focus is on non-REF work. 


Greenberg Traurig is one of the largest law firms in the world and as a consequence the successful applicant will be involved in interacting not just with colleagues in our London based Finance & Restructuring Group, but also our global colleagues whose clients require UK support.
 


We are looking for candidates who have meaningful experience in respect of multiple aspects of secured lending work, including drafting and leading on the negotiation of cross-border lending and security arrangements, senior facility agreements, senior / junior facility agreements and intercreditor agreements, security granted by / over assets located in a range of jurisdictions as well as general banking & finance advisory work.

Candidates should have worked across the transaction life-cycle, advising on
preliminary agreements (non-disclosure agreements and term sheets), drafting and negotiating key deal documents, subsequent amendments and modifications, refinancings and repayments / prepayments. Please note 1-day WFH, 4 days in the office is required.
 

Responsibilities:   

  • Drafting and negotiating key deal documents.
  • Manage all client work allocated to them, liaising with clients, managing expectations and providing consistently excellent client service.
  • Providing guidance and expert advice to other colleagues as required.
  • Self-motivated business development and business development with the wider team .
  • Exercising high standards of client care in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Contributing to team training and know-how.
  • Keeping up to date with caselaw, policy and planned reforms.

Experience, Skills and personal attributes:   

  • Enthusiasm.
  • Experience of working within a leading banking & finance team on lender-side roles is essential.
  • Equivalent experience on borrower / sponsor side roles would be beneficial.
  • Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to understand complex legal principles and apply them accordingly.
  • Excellent drafting skills and communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • A commercial and pragmatic outlook.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, to manage simultaneous workstreams to tight deadlines, with excellent prioritisation and time management skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels.
  • Ability to interact confidently with clients and actively seek new business development opportunities.
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible and hands-on attitude, responding effectively to rapidly changing circumstances.
  • Excellent IT skills (Outlook and Word in particular).

Qualifications:   

  • Admitted to practice as a solicitor or barrister in England, Australia or New Zealand (certain other Commonwealth jurisdictions may be considered).
  • 4+ years PQE or equivalent.
  • Undergraduate degree achieving a minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent.
