JOB DESCRIPTION/SUMMARY
Civil Engineering Intern will be under the direct supervision of the Project Manager/Engineer.  The position will be task-oriented, and each task will be supervised and derived from specific and detailed instructions provided by the Project Manager/Engineer.  The employee is expected to work 40 hours/week during the summer break.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary duties and responsibilities require the Intern to complete assigned tasks efficiently and accurately for the completion of our project work. These duties are, but not limited to, the following as directed/supervised by the Project Manager/Engineer:
  • Performing design analysis and engineering calculations
  • Performing quantity take-offs and construction cost estimates
  • Assisting with the preparation of construction plans
  • Assisting with the maintenance of project files
  • Delivering plans, specifications, reports, etc. to governmental review agencies
  • Performing research and gathering of information from governmental agencies
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
 
·         Enrolled in an accredited college or university and majoring in civil engineering.
·         Possess good oral and written communication skills.
·         Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D is helpful, but not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
 
·         The majority of the workday will be in an office setting.  There may be times when fieldwork will be required to familiarize oneself with the project site conditions or to observe the construction of projects.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
·         Walking, lifting, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, reaching, handling, pushing, pulling and driving.
