Job Description/Summary

This position may require site visits around the country and overseas. The Estimating Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Estimator with evaluating scope of work, performing quantity takeoffs, attending site visits, and preparing the cost estimates for construction projects and site work.  This individual will also assist project managers and project quality control managers with procurement of subcontractors and vendors, preparing subcontracts, and attending meetings (both pre-con and onsite). Sage/Timberline estimating software experience is a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gathering, calculating, and compiling take off data for use in bid proposal estimates
  • Preparing routine estimates under the supervision of the Project Estimator, Senior Estimator, Chief Estimator or VP of Construction
  • Maintaining current and accurate information on prices from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Utilizing Sage/Timberline to present information to management
  • Demonstrating role model behaviors on ethics and integrity

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Science, Construction Management or related
  • Proficiency with computer software programs including MS Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong work ethic
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Customer service experience
  • Strong prospecting skills
  • Proficiency with On-Screen Take-Off or Bluebeam not required but considered a positive
  • Familiarity with Sage/Timberline Estimating Software
  • Ability to maintain regular work attendance and timeliness on a consistent basis. 
  • Ability to conduct business with a positive attitude and project a high level of professionalism.
