Facilities Superintendent
Description
JOB SUMMARY
Oversee maintenance, operations and improvements of GSI facilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, organize, and supervise the daily operations of the facilities department, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of all systems and services.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for all facility equipment and systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other essential systems.
- Perform basic carpentry repairs, installations and improvements.
- Monitor and manage facility expenses, budgets, and contracts with vendors and suppliers to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities, identify maintenance needs, and coordinate repairs and improvements.
- Maintain grounds of the facility.
- Oversee the implementation of safety protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, finance, and human resources, to support facility-related needs.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in facility management, implementing innovative practices when appropriate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in facility management, construction, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and occupational health and safety standards.
- Must be available to report to the office in the event of an emergency or critical systems outage.
