BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST

JOB SUMMARY

This is an entry-level position. The Business Development Specialist will provide business development and marketing and proposal support to the business development team. The Business Development Specialist will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and coordination of proposal submissions; including research, outlining proposal requirements, technical writing, proofreading, formatting, printing, collating, and filing. Additional responsibilities include: preparation of marketing materials including PowerPoint presentations, brochures, flysheets, and other materials as assigned; event/tradeshow preparation; participation in business development functions; database entry and management; and all other duties as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Business Development Specialist will be responsible for marketing functions, identifying and capturing opportunities, and assisting in the preparation and coordination of proposal submissions, which can include:
  • Researching
  • Outlining proposal requirements, assisting with writing proposal sections, and preparing qualifications packages
  • Technical reading and writing, proofreading, formatting, printing, collating, and filing
  • Preparation of marketing materials including PowerPoint presentations, brochures, flysheets, and other materials as assigned
  • Gathering information on potential clients and projects, and scheduling meetings with new and existing or past clients to uncover project opportunities
  • Soliciting involvement of other members of firm in client meetings
  • Developing and maintaining strong business network as reliable source of information
  • Event/tradeshow preparation
  • Participation in business development functions
  • Database entry and management, and misc. clerical duties
  • Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Well developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the Firm, and others outside the Firm.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Organization skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines.
  • Willingness to complete all tasks and learn new skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion.
  • Must be competent in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator/InDesign or graphics software a plus.
Experience:
  • College degree in the field of business, marketing, science and engineering, or related field.
