As a Global Standards Director (Healthcare Focus) at GS1 US, you will drive the adoption and implementation of GS1 Standards within the healthcare sector. We are currently recruiting for this position, which offers a salary range of $115,000 to $140,000.

This position qualifies for participation in our annual employee bonus program.

Who you are:

You demonstrate intellectual curiosity and comfort with ambiguity, enabling you to operate effectively in complex and evolving environments. You possess a deep understanding of the GS1 system of standards—including identification, AIDC technologies, and the management of master, transactional, and physical event data.

You bring broad industry knowledge, particularly within healthcare, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and supply chain management, and have hands-on experience with business process mapping, process optimization, and implementing technology solutions that support healthcare needs. You have a strong understanding of DSCSA regulation and related identification and data capture requirements. You possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, complemented by excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation abilities, allowing you to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders with ease.

Your proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a matrix team environment, combined with a customer-focused mindset, enables you to build relationships and influence others both internally and externally. A strong work ethic, flexibility, organizational skills, and self-motivation are key attributes you bring to the table.

You hold a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and have 5–10 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply chain, with a focus on identification, data quality, and data exchange. Experience implementing GS1 Standards, facilitating collaboration among diverse stakeholders, and working as a sales engineer or solution designer will be highly valued.

What you will do:

As a Global Standards Director (Healthcare Focus), you provide expert consultation to internal and external stakeholders on the application and use of GS1 Standards, translating technical concepts into practical solutions for industry challenges.  

Here are a few more details about the role (other duties may be assigned):

Technical Consultation & Solution Development

  • Develop and support implementation of standards-based solutions tailored to healthcare sector needs, including custom workflows, processes, and systems.

  • Support the transition to new regulatory requirements (e.g., National Drug Code), and leverage advanced data carriers for e-leaflet information sharing.

  • Partner with technical domain experts to develop content, tools, and guidance that add value to GS1 US membership and organizational goals.

Stakeholder Engagement & Industry Collaboration

  • Engage with members, industry partners, and user communities to understand needs, gather feedback, and ensure solutions align with requirements.

  • Facilitate internal and external standards work groups, driving collaboration and adoption of GS1 Standards.

  • Educate user communities, deliver standards training (classroom and web-based), and provide implementation guidance.

Documentation & Guidance

  • Develop and maintain detailed standards documents, including requirements and implementation guidelines based on industry/sector needs.

  • Provide subject matter expertise in working groups, with members and partners.
