IT Operations Manager
Location: Bethesda, MD

This position is based in Bethesda, MD.

Responsibilities:
- Organize, lead, mentor, and motivate IT professionals to achieve a high level of performance and quality in delivering technical solutions that provide exceptional business value.
- Support various technical projects and initiatives, providing guidance to IT team members towards successful implementation and collaborating with cross-functional teams to accomplish shared objectives.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a diverse group of staff members, stakeholders, and customers.
- Use critical thinking and communication skills to absorb and relay strategic needs articulated by customers and ensure these concepts are understood and addressed by technical staff.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts across processes and technology in support of end-user needs.
- Analyze technical needs across the environment, tailoring best practices and leveraging industry-standard technologies in developing solutions to those needs.
- Oversee and support the development and maintenance of documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), system diagrams, work instructions, “how-to” guides, etc.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex and sensitive issues/incidents to ensure effective resolution strategies are implemented and communicated. Includes providing VIP support as necessary.
- Play other roles as needed to support successful service and project delivery

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline; commensurate years of experience may substitute degree requirements.
- 8+ years experience in the IT field, with demonstrated past/recent experience providing hands-on IT support as well as leading technical teams. Leadership experience does not need to extend across all years, although an effective management presence is required.
- Ability to effectively manage workloads and priorities across technical teams without compromising operations.
- A foundational understanding of cross-functional service areas, such as desktop support, networking, infrastructure, and cybersecurity, as they apply to operational IT support.
- Demonstrated experience implementing process and technical improvements.
- Hands-on familiarity with the Microsoft/Office 365 technology suite (e.g., Azure, SharePoint Online, MS Teams, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical topics in layman’s terms to all levels within the organization.

Desired Experience:
- Demonstrated experience supporting both service desk and infrastructure operations.
- Experience operating within the IT space under various Federal compliance standards/requirements (e.g., NIST, ISO, CMMC) and experience with the implementation of, or operating within, industry-standard IT Service Management frameworks such as ITIL, and HDI.
- Experience in systems administration/engineering, primarily with the Microsoft desktop and server stack and cloud systems.
- Experience supporting or managing IT projects following Agile (e.g., Scrum) best practices.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS SharePoint and Power Automate is a plus.
- Experience with SAML/SSO implementation.
- Solid understanding of and demonstrated hands-on experience with Microsoft Project, Office Suite, and cloud platforms for team and project collaboration (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, SmartSheet, etc.).
- Experience supporting governance processes such as configuration and change management within an enterprise IT environment.
- While a security clearance is not currently required for this role, a current clearance would be a plus.
