As an independent practice within the WPP Media Company, we have the resources and intellectual capital which fuels our ambition of becoming a top tier Global Marketing analytics company over the next 3 years.  Our New York office sits in World Trade 3 overlooking the World Trade Memorial.  Yet, we retain full independence to work for non-WPP clients (~40% of our client base is currently with non-WPP clients) and do not provide any unpaid services within WPP.

 

We serve clients across a range of sectors, including CPG, Retail, Finance, QSR, Healthcare, and more.  Our work covers 50 markets in NA, LATAM, EMEA and APAC with regional Head Offices in New York, London, and Singapore.

 

Gain Theory – Partner/Director

Role: Partner/Director Transformation

Gain Theory is approaching the engagement of our clients and how we deliver insights differently.  In seeking to ‘inspire’ clients, we are moving beyond facts and figures into influence and driving enthusiasm to take action.  We are looking for an individual that understands the data, analysis, tools and Marketing, but approaches delivery of results through the eyes of the client.

 

The role is client facing as you will advise them on how to best connect and translate the outputs of various analytics tools and solutions to their business problems. Some of these tools and solutions will be delivered by Gain Theory directly while others may come from client teams and/or their partners. Therefore collaboration, excellent communication, and project management will be the hallmark characteristics of the ideal candidate.

 

This individual should be acquainted with the myriad of Marketing Analytic disciplines currently employed in the market across industries and around the world. Some of these may include but are not limited to MMM/MTA, programmatic, media buying/optimization, customer insights, and research. Note that while the Transformation practice will focus on the breadth of these tools and solutions, the individual is only expected to have expertise in one or a few of these areas to start. Finally, this individual should also have experience with delivering marketing analytics as either a supplier, consultant or a client team member within.

 

The key responsibilities will include:

 

 Client Interaction & Strategy

  • Leads client engagement and manages the overall relationship
  • Understand clients’ evolving business goals
  • Apply Transformation frameworks and approaches to drive client success
  • Drive ongoing review of client goals, strategy, and metrics of success
  • Organize and lead in-person client meetings and conference calls
  • Negotiate and resolve client, agency, and vendor conflicts
  • Strong interpersonal skills, natural presenter capable of storytelling through data and insights

 

 Management

  • Utilize time management skills to ensure on-time completion of projects on accelerated schedule
  • Manage internal team and effectively foster teamwork
  • Work within a matrixed team structure across various COEs
  • Resolve project conflicts
  • Participate in the development, mentoring, and retention of staff members under their management
  • Share learnings with team and discusses potential impact on client programs
  • Collaborate with specialists and maintain strong relationships with agency and vendor partners 
 

Transformation Practice Development

  • Assist in development of Transformation frameworks
  • Assist in development of new client business for the Transformation practice
  • Managing and executing client engagements in Transformation
  • Training others on the Transformation frameworks and approaches required to lead success client engagements

  

New Business

  • Identifies new business opportunities within client base
  • Participates in the preparation and delivery of new business pitches/proposals
  • Works through sales process until close
  • Ensures that clients’ success metrics are attainable before taking on new business opportunities 

 

Requirements

Customer Insights / Research Expertise

  • Deep understanding of data and process that drives advertiser side marketing planning
  • Expertise in analyzing standard marketing measurement tools such as brand health trackers, MMM, creative pretesting, ad effectiveness studies, claims testing, etc.
  • Experience analyzing standard CPG sales measurement tools such as purchase panel (Homescan, Numerator, etc.), syndicated retail sales data (Nielsen, IRI), direct retail sales data, etc. and/or direct to consumer sales data
  • Experience driving marketing strategy and objectives utilizing various consumer research such as segmentation, need states, purchase decision drivers, etc.
  • Experience pushing customer insights all the way through to execution, including coordination of marketing partners including agencies
  • Familiarity with calculating and leveraging LTV, NPV, ROI, churn, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 8+ years related work experience
  • Consulting and/or Client relationship management expertise
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including presenting and story telling a must
  • Experience in managing and mentoring team members
  • Strong analytical skills; ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, including pivot tables and V-Lookups
  • Excellent problem solving, quantitative and analytical skills
  • Capability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and take initiative on assigned tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team player

 

Beneficial Attributes

  • MBA and/or other advanced degree highly preferred
  • Python, SQL, or Tableau experience or familiarity is preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of media and marketing industry dynamics
  • Primary research with digital and traditional experience
