We are looking for a PR Manager to support a growing communications organization at GroupM North America. This position supports GroupM NA Executive profile and organizational brand building and storytelling through strategic distribution of thought leadership, organizational news, and POVs. This includes the facilitation of speakerships, interviews, and events. Working with the full Marketing and Communications team (including North American agency communications/PR leads), you will manage the holistic communications calendar and our interactions with industry and mainstream media.   

The PR Manager will be part of the North American Marketing, Communications team, headquartered in New York City. As our regional PR owner, you’ll be closely connected to the global Communications team to ensure calendars, priorities, and messaging align and serve the mission of making advertising work better for people.  

As our  PR Manager, you will:   

  • Search for opportunities to grow our industry voice and profile   
  • Create systems to streamline the process of identifying and activating PR opportunities   
  • Inspire excitement and engagement with our programs, initiatives, and milestones  
  • Strengthen the visibility and understanding of our mission to be responsible for the next era of media where advertising works better for people.  
  • Cultivate engaged press relationships to ensure positive coverage of GroupM’s initiatives.    

YOUR IMPACT:   

  • Continuous development and execution GroupM’s PR plans, including proactive storytelling married to the editorial calendars of key industry trade publications.   
  • Draft press releases and briefs and associated internal communication programs   
  • Distribute releases to media contacts and over the wire  
  • Publish press releases to our website   
  • Maintain relationships with industry and relevant mainstream media contacts   
  • Manage and maintain a calendar of industry events and milestones and proactively prompt and plan engagements  
  • Manage sponsorships and presence at industry events   
  • Plan and manage GroupM branded industry events and launches  
  • Manage external vendors and partners for events   
  • Manage GroupM’s external PR agency resource, establishing the scope of work and deliverables, and managing accountability and delivery within budget.   
  • Manage the cross-group speakers bureau and the streaming of opportunities to appropriate parties  
  • Create tools to facilitate more efficient fulfillment of PR and communications needs (e.g. maintain portal of key exec and SME headshots and bios)

  • High level of interaction with agency executive leaders and subject matter experts as well as high exposure to every level within the organization     

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • Minimum of 4 years of related work experience  
  • High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels.   
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently.   
  • Experience in event planning and management   
  • The ideal candidate is well versed in the North American (US) advertising industry media landscape   
  • Ability to think strategically to solve problems  
  • Affinity with the idea of making advertising work better for people   
  • Excellent business judgment ability to prioritize critical tasks
